Electricity Supply to Well Well Well
Customer Name: The Eden Valley Mineral Water Company

The Brief: The Eden Valley Mineral Water Company (locally known as Well Well Well) were extending their factory and required an increase in supply capacity. Coupled with this, voltage disturbance problems on the local Distribution Network Operator's system supplying the site had to be overcome. The cable route had a particular area of engineering difficulty as the river Petril required to be crossed.

The Solution: The project involved the undergrounding of 7km of Triplex 11kV cable between the site and the United Utilities owned Hutton End Primary Substation through Armathwaite in Cumbria. Environmentally IUS had to RESPECT this area of natural beauty as well as take due consideration of the local wildlife habitat. In order to minimise any such disturbances at the river crossing we decided the most environmentally friendly way to achieve this was to 'Jet Track'. This was successfully achieved with minimal disruption and inconvenience to the local area. The cable was terminated on a new Ring Master Unit installed at the customer's premises with existing site supplies transferred at a later date.

The Results: The project was carried out to United Utilities adoptable standards with minimum disturbance to the residents of the local area. With regards to customer satisfaction our client was delighted with the service provided.
